Ken To "Help" Brian?

Christopher Hope:

"I hear that Ken's advisers reckon that to win the election Ken has to help Paddick up to a respectable 18 per cent. By doing that Ken will eat into Boris's second preference votes and hopefully emerge victorious. So the challenge which Boris presents for Ken is simple - attack, attack attack."

Duh, does this make sense?
