I gather it will concern matters relating to Deputy Mayor Ray Lewis. Starts at 4.00. More later.

Today's 'first hundred days' news release already published and nothing to do with Ray Lewis - http://www.london.gov.uk/view_press_release.jsp?releaseid=17673

How intriguing. I wonder what's going on.

Ah, the Guardian comes to my aid just before I press Post:

Blimey.

According to the Beeb, it is over Mr.Lewis' "financial misconduct" back in the days when he was a vicar in East London.

What makes it especially painful is that the allegation is over £25k he was "entrusted with" from a parishioner with learning disabilities.

Quite who is in charge of this "independent investigation of Bozzer's will be interesting though.

Hm. I've just looked at the video of the press conference over at the Torygraph. Boris was impressive, and Ray wasn't. Can't blame him in the circumstances.

My gut feeling is that this is political mudslinging. But, that said, now the allegations have been made they had better be true. If they're not, it will be another corrosive example of how toxic our political system now is.
