Oops, David!
On his Beeb politics blog Nick Robinson reveals that David Cameron was not wholly precise about the whereabouts of a website he praised during his speech to Google Zeitgeist today. Robinson raised the matter very discretely. I can afford to be more direct. Cameron named the site in question simply as 'craigslist' without specifying whether the rest of the address was '.com' or '.co.uk.' Maybe he should have. Craigslist.com is the famous, caring, sharing San Francisco classifieds site and it was this one the Tory leader had in mind. However, craigslist.co.uk offers, not too surprisingly, a very different kind of service. Still, if it's any consolation things could have been even worse had, er, a slip of the tongue caused Cameron to miss out the first 's' from 'craigslist'. The possibilities offered by craiglist.com might bring a blush to the cheek of even the grooviest modern Conservative.
Don't worry - your namesake could still blush. Craigslist is famous for its 'casual encounters' sections where lonely urbanites cruise for one night stands, often with graphic descriptions and phtographs of what they are offering. It is a service much used, also, by those travelling to a major city and looking for some non-commercial hanky panky during their stay.

Good Lord, I'm so naive. You, on the other hand...
