Later living in a council-owned flat when fame struck in what we now call "Victoria Park Village"...the family were forced away to Hendon by adverse neighbour gossip..."woss she doing sponging off the council wiv all 'er dosh.." or similar. You can imagine.
In actual fact she was very young with no exprience of money, which was being handled by the music industry, and liked living with her family..
HS seems now to live somewhere in the Radwinter area of north Essex ,from hints in her very readable biography(listed in wiki).
I went to "An Evening with Michael Rosen" at Hackney Central Library last year, and sitting right behind me were a gaggle of elderly Jewish ladies - obviously Michael Rosen groupies, as they had travelled from Hendon to get there. During breaks in the proceedings, the topic of Helen Shapiro came up. "Oh yes, Helen Shapiro came from here, didn`t she, Dora?" "Oh, but yes - such a lovely voice - but we don`t talk about her now, do we, after *that* conversion" "Such a shame!"(*that* being her somewhat controversial support for the Jews-for-Jesus position)

Hendon appears to be today's centre-of-the-universe.
