The Stoke Newington Branch is a bit of a mosh pit too. I wavered over a Fireman Sam DVD for £4, then realised I couldn't actually face queuing up. Still, there's only so many times one can cope with watching Norman Price set fire to his mum's shop, so maybe it was for the best.

I have a considerable soft spot for Woolies, which was the nearest thing to a department store that my nearest shopping town (Wrexham) had, in north Wales, when I was a kid. A trip to Woolworths (nearly a 50 mile round trip, btw) was like a trip to Harrods in my mind. Books, tapes, records, sweets, toys, you name it.
