The local Tesco Express has been damaged on a handful of occasions since its arrival just about exactly seven years ago, to the displeasure of the local liberal intelligentsia and others. Each time, the question in my mind has been, "Was this a political statement or something rather more materialistic?"
One such occasion, in February 2012, was, I'm confident, a form of protest. Each of the glass panels at the front had a hole put in it. Down with the big corporations, and so on. See below.
The latest effort, which I spotted today, turns out to have been your basic break-in. I know this because staff in the shop told me. Apparently, it took the culprits such an effort to force entry they only had time to grab a few bottles of spirits and scarper before the police arrived.
