Hmm, the problem with these figures is that if you actually go out looking for people carrying knives, you find them. Without knowing how assiduously the cops were looking for them it's hard to assess the numbers - Operation Blunt II implies a Blunt I, which was indeed launched in 2004.

On a related note, the Met's crime mapping website (you thought Boris was going to introduce one? There already *is* one, down to ward level/monthly) hasn't been updated for July yet...
