It's nice to see 19th class-based canards still alive and well two centuries on.

If rhythmic music does indeed lead to loss of inhibitions and crowd chaos, we'd see more broken furniture and audience havoc at the operas of Philip Glass.

Mind you, I did once see well-dressed members of an audience break down an exit barrier in the underground car park after a classical music concert at the Barbican. But that was only after repeated and failed attempts to find a staff member to open the non-working barrier. The riot inciter on this occasion was that well-known drummer of ferocity, W A Mozart.
